Reportedly, Raphael Varane, the Manchester United defender, has grown disenchanted with his situation at Old Trafford, as he finds himself marginalized under the leadership of current manager Erik ten Hag.

Varane’s battle with injuries and inconsistency, coupled with limited playing opportunities, has left him frustrated. There’s speculation that the 2018 World Cup winner might depart Manchester United after the season concludes. Allegedly, Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr is keen on acquiring him and is reportedly prepared to extend a £50 million per year offer, aiming to reunite him with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Varane and Ronaldo have shared the field both at Real Madrid and Manchester United, and if the sidelined Frenchman agrees to the deal, they will reunite for a third time at their new club.

Per the Daily Star, Manchester United will not exercise the 12-month extension option in Varane’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Varane made a high-profile move to the Premier League giants in 2021, departing Real Madrid for a reported £340,000-a-week deal, reportedly making him the highest-paid player at the club.

Since joining, Varane has played a pivotal role in the team’s success, notably contributing to their triumph in the League Cup last year. This victory marked their first piece of silverware since 2017, further solidifying Varane’s impact on the squad.

Despite his stature, Varane found himself on the bench during Manchester United’s recent 3-0 victory over West Ham United, as manager Erik ten Hag opted for Harry Maguire instead. However, an unfortunate injury to Lisandro Martinez, who sustained a knee injury, prompted Ten Hag to make a late substitution, bringing Varane into the game.

“Manchester United released a statement confirming that Lisandro Martinez has suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee, projecting his absence from play for a minimum of eight weeks. The club extends its well wishes to Licha for a swift recovery and anticipates his return to the field later this season.

As of now, Manchester United holds the sixth position in the Premier League, having amassed 38 points from 23 matches. The current top-four standings are led by Liverpool, followed by Manchester City, Arsenal, and Aston Villa.”
